How Did We Do?

My collages are constructed entirely of magazine paper and a lot of imagination, thus creating an illusion of realism.”

Donna Osley developed an interest in art at an early age, constantly sketching the world as she perceived it.  Osley’s love for collages developed while attending The Art Institute of Philadelphia.  Her career was put on hold for a number of years devoting her time to raising a family.  She is a native of New Jersey and has exhibited in numerous shows   and galleries in the state as well as in New York and Philadelphia.   Donna has “cut her way into successfully portraying contemporary African American and traditional themes creating an “illusion of realism.

Osley has been featured in newspaper articles and has adorned the cover of a local magazine. She has received numerous awards for her unique style and has taught workshops sharing her collage techniques. The collages are put together so well that they resemble fine art paintings, giving her work the nickname, ”Paintless Paintings”. Viewers are in disbelief when they realize that the medium is magazine paper. This draws admirers closer for inspection allowing them to become intimate with the work.

Following the footsteps of one of her favorite artist, Romare Bearden, she hopes to capture the spirit and the emotion of her subjects that arouse our souls.  Collages made entirely of magazine paper and having the look of fine art will be the unmistakable style of Donna Osley.
